If anyone had called Nina and Patchouli "birds of a feather", Nina probably would have gotten a little pouty at the lame joke, but they weren't too far wrong. While it was true they were diametrically opposite in many ways - Nina loved physical activity (specifically flying) and got agitated if she went too long without seeing the sky - but a mutual appreciation for magic research had brought them swiftly closer together.
Right now Nina was taking a break from her reading, and set a tea try down on the table they had been using. "Tea, Patchouli?"

"Certainly," Patchouli responded with a smile. "Thank you very much, Nina." How kind of her! This was another good reason why Patchouli enjoyed Nina's company so much; she was such a kind friend!
Patchouli set her book down for a moment.

"You're welcome." Nina knew how her friend took her tea by now, quickly making it how she liked it and setting it down beside her. "How's your lead working out?"

"Oh, so far, it's... at least leading me to interesting places even if it's not as helpful as I'd hoped. Maybe I'll still find something yet; we shall see."
She was, of course, ever hopeful. It's not as if she didn't enjoy researching even when it provided no results -- far from it -- but results helped.
